The classification of Naval Simulators

Naval simulators are essential tools for maritime training, certified according to international standards that define their level of realism and functionality. The classification into Class A, B, and C reflects the complexity and ability of the simulator to faithfully reproduce the bridge or engine room of a ship.

Class A (Full Mission Bridge/Engine Room): These are highly realistic simulators capable of reproducing the entire bridge or engine room of a specific ship. They offer a 360-degree view and simulate complex environmental conditions, maritime traffic, and system failures in real time. They are used for advanced training, pilot training, and port validation.

Class B (Multi-task/Limited Task): These offer high realism for specific tasks but do not reproduce the entire bridge. Examples include radar simulators, ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System), or fast patrol boat maneuvering stations.

Class C (Part-task/Computer Based): These are PC-based simulators or single stations that use software for training on specific procedures or auxiliary machinery. They often include teaching modules and proficiency tests.
