About us

From a single idea, a well-structured system can be born. From a single area of specialization, thanks to a virtuous way of thinking about business, an industrial group can emerge—one that boasts not only major collaborations, but also comprehensive know-how capable of managing a project from the initial concept to its final realization.

Founded in 1996 by Isidoro Forni and Andrea De Monaco, Fidema Group began by supporting Fincantieri, the largest Italian—and perhaps global—shipbuilding company. The group was born from a bold investment: the founders’ severance pay, used to open a small 24-square-meter office in Ronchi dei Legionari (GO). Today, Fidema Group has a beautiful, recently renovated and expanded headquarters in Monfalcone, as well as branches in Pavia di Udine, Genoa, Ancona, and Pozzuoli, employing around 200 people.

Starting with engineering, as the company grew in size, it decided to divide its business into two units and expand its range of services. Thus, the commissioning division was created—focused on field operations, initially in the naval sector. This involved the start-up and calibration of onboard systems, especially those related to air, water, ventilation, cooling, and heating. Thanks to these capabilities, Fidema gradually strengthened its presence within shipyards, designing projects and carrying them out directly on site.

This led to the birth of a new division: manufacturing—the production of components initially for the naval industry, later extended to broader industrial applications. The company began manufacturing side doors, elevators, and all equipment related to onboard handling systems.

Meanwhile, the company continued to grow, moving into other sectors such as industrial and civil. It is precisely this internal structure, built over the years, that forms the strength of Fidema Group.

“Our organizational model is based on the division into interactive business units. Within a project, we can start from concept development and go all the way to its concrete realization—whether it’s naval, civil, or industrial. From this comes the company’s ‘Synergy of Skills’: each business unit has a specific expertise that works in synergy with all the others, providing our clients with a truly comprehensive service. They can choose to rely on a single specialized unit or request a complete end-to-end process—from design to execution. This is the strength of our company. Thanks to this structure, new ideas are constantly emerging—such as the creation of our 3D printing business unit, a fast-growing field. Initially developed for internal needs, like product prototyping, it now also serves external clients requiring this type of service.”

The drive to innovate remains strong. In 2017, Fidema acquired a company based in Finale Emilia, thus entering the pneumatics sector with in-house production of valves, gas springs, and stainless-steel cylinders—a niche market where high local quality has managed to stand out against large-scale Asian competition.

Meanwhile, the Udine branch—another business unit connected to both the naval and civil sectors—specializes in motion systems for entertainment, meaning all moving mechanisms related to theaters and stages aboard cruise ships.

In recent years, a significant opportunity has arisen in a highly distinctive area we serve: the private yacht sector. Like the entire luxury industry, this segment has experienced exponential growth in both production and sales, driven by the strong demand from those who, being able to afford it, sought to create their own personal island.
